CastleLeaf Craft Kitchen & Dispensary

CastleLeaf is a craft kitchen and cannabis dispensary that prioritizes community and the arts. Located in the Boston Landing community of Brighton, the business aims to not only provide high-quality cannabis products, but to build a community-centered experience through relationships with customers and local art installations.

A collective vision takes shape

CastleLeaf sought the help of Cannabis Creative in the beginning stages of branding, and the first step was determining what their brand would represent. Together, we collaborated on the process to establish elements like the logo design, colors and iconography. The biggest challenge was reaching agreement with their large team, but after hearing everyone’s vision for the brand, we were able to find solutions that satisfied the group as a whole.

The royal treatment for branding and web design

Through their brand messaging questionnaire, we learned that it was important to normalize cannabis consumption through accessibility and education, and that they wanted their customers to feel welcome, safe, curious and energized. They also wanted their brand to reflect “good vibes.” We used their feedback to develop brand style and messaging guides, including a primary color palette of warm tones like clay, burnt yellow, navy and light gray, as well as black and bone white. Their final logo incorporated cannabis flower and castle-inspired elements, such as a play on the outline of a shield.

With branding in place, we began designing a website utilizing the primary colors. Design elements from the new logo were blended subtly into the layout, and written content communicated key themes highlighted by the client. Our team created fun, playful icons for brand messaging that we integrated throughout the site. Another unique feature is a “Neighborhood Updates” page with a calendar of CastleLeaf events, including art exhibits, classes and more.
