Making Marketing Magic for Misty Mountain

Located right outside of Boston in the town of Malden, Misty Mountain came to Cannabis Creative on a mission. Operating in an incredibly competitive area already crowded with dispensaries — and with more opening soon — they were looking for a way to stand out and carve their niche in the space.

Our approach? Taking advantage of their vicinity to nearby concert venues and attractions, particularly as the closest dispensary to the luxury Encore Hotel & Casino. Through localized SEO and PPC campaigns, we were able to target our efforts by competitor, specific interests, and location to improve rankings and increase revenue.

How Cannabis Creative Honed In On Local Traffic

To hit the ground running, our expert digital advertising team launched Google pay-per-click (PPC) ads. We used a combination of regular Paid Search ads and new Performance Max methods, which allow for hyper-targeting by hobby, location, previous searches, and more.

This allowed us to place Misty Mountain ads in front of users who were actively searching for their competitors, checking out things to do by the casino, or interested in local concerts, for example.

Overall, these PPC campaigns had an impressive return on ad spend (ROAS) of 920.5% and our concert-focused ads saw an 8x ROAS!

Supporting Digital Advertising Through SEO & Valuable Content

Once users landed on the Misty Mountain website via our PPC ads, we wanted to ensure the information they found there was relevant and engaging. Here is where our content team stepped in to create educational blog articles and dedicated website pages with useful info for their target audiences. We also conducted keyword research and thorough competitor analysis, performing SEO throughout the website by implementing targeted, localized terms to improve rankings and increase organic traffic.

As our final SEO initiative, we created dedicated landing pages with strategic keywords to increase key rankings in neighboring towns, such as Everett. Through this effort, we were able to help Misty Mountain target Malden and the surrounding Boston areas, allowing their business to show up in front of the right audiences and rank quickly for dispensary search terms.

When the client started with us in May, they ranked for 0 keywords. By November, they were ranked for 61 keywords - more than 6,000% increase!

Making Conversions Matter With An Optimized Menu

As the final piece of the puzzle, our team utilized SparkMenu capabilities to allow products from their Dutchie menu to appear in Google searches. This further increased traffic, resulted in an abundance of keyword rankings, and improved the user experience by making it possible to shop online in fewer clicks.

In fact, of the 61 keywords Misty Mountain was ranking for in November, two-thirds of them were from Dutchie menu pages. This helped them rank for overall product categories (like “Massachusetts cannabis concentrates”) and specific products, showcasing the success of our native ecommerce solution, SparkMenus.
